As some of you may know, I have myoclonus, which is associated with spasms and “tics”, involuntary movements of my body, including pain. Well, I never seem to do anything halfway.
Not only did I have severe mono this past year, but we discovered I have 2 extra spleens, and according to my neurologist, the worst case of myoclonus he’s ever seen!! Yikes! It’s like a chihuahua that stole the hamster’s basket!
Unfortunately, what that means is that there are sometimes brief periods in time where there will be some disruption of posts, like this past week. This weekend I spasmed so much (and they look like seizures except I’m fully alert), that I fell over and hit my head. Thankfully, there was no concussion. In the days to follow, I have fallen several other times, but I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people around me who caught me and saved the day. Go you all!!
When these severe spasms occur, there are periods that I can only communicate with people via my eyes and my right hand, the only parts of my body that I retain almost complete control of. My speech becomes slurred, sometimes very poorly, and it becomes difficult to think, let alone write.
So, when these periods happen, please be patient with me and give me a few days to rest up, relax, read books, watch movies, play my level 85 champion, level 39 guardian, or level 20 warden on Lord of the Rings Online or build siege-worthy castles on Stronghold 2, and I’ll be back in action as soon as I can.
You all rock! Thanks for your patience!
